After a quiet week last week on the produce front, the farms have exploded again with delicious fresh winter fruit & veg to brighten up your boxes. We've got some familiar favourites, and a few slightly mysterious vegetables (looking at you, romanesco 👀).
We've also got a few new additions to the shelves, a team update, and an opportunity to join the Joy crew if you've ever fancied spending your days surrounded by good food and good people.
🌿 FROM THE FARMS 🌿
🌱 Organic Romanesco Cauliflower – Cafresco Organics
Have you ever seen a vegetable this cool lookin’?
With its incredible fractal pattern and bright green spirals, Romanesco looks like it belongs in a maths textbook rather than your veggie drawer. Thankfully, it also tastes just as good as it looks. Slightly sweeter and milder than regular cauliflower, it's delicious roasted, steamed or added to salads.
Plus it's packed with vitamin C, fibre and antioxidants.
🥔 Organic Nicola Potatoes – Bio Farms Tasmania
These golden-fleshed beauties are a bit of a kitchen all-rounder. Nicola potatoes have a creamy texture, mild nutty flavour, and hold their shape beautifully when cooked, making them perfect for roasting, potato salads, soups and tray bakes. If you're a crispy roast potato fan (who isn’t?), you're in for a treat.
The humble choko might not be your first choice, but don't underestimate it 😏
This mild, crunchy vegetable happily takes on whatever flavours you throw at it. Slice it into stir-fries, add it to curries, bake it into gratins, or grate it raw into salads for extra crunch.
If you've never tried one before, we dare you to give it a go!
🍐 Spray-Free Beurre Bosc Pears – Gran Elly Orchard
Sweet, juicy and wonderfully crunchy.
These spray-free pears are grown by Dennis at Gran Elly Orchard in Stanthorpe. They're delicious eaten fresh, but our favourite winter trick is stewing them with a little cinnamon and spooning them over porridge. The best kinda comfort food.
🥭 Organic Red Papaya – Boruca Farm
Bright, juicy and packed with tropical flavour.
These beautiful red papayas are grown in Cooktown using organic farming methods and are completely free from synthetic chemicals and pesticides.
Perfect on their own with a squeeze of lime, blended into smoothies, or added to a breakfast bowl.
🥬 Organic Wombok Cabbage – Bauers Organic Farm
Wombok’s tender leaves and mild flavour make it perfect for stir-fries, slaws, soups and Asian-inspired dishes. It cooks quickly, stays crunchy, and stretches a meal a long way.
A very underrated veggie, if you ask us.

There's a lot happening behind the scenes at Joy right now.
Our customer service queen Nat has headed off on another adventure. She's contributed so much to this business over the years and we're incredibly grateful for everything she's done. We’ll miss her dearly, but we’re excited to see what she does next. ♥️
At the same time, Maddy (our Marketing Coordinator) is heading off on parental leave to welcome a new little bub into the world 🍼💛 and Maiko (our packing queen) is jetting off to Japan to spend some time with family.
That means Kristen, our amazing VA team, and our packing legends Jess and Julie will be holding down the fort while everyone is away.
It's a bit of a new chapter for us, so thank you in advance for your patience and support while we navigate it all 🌿

We're looking for a Packing Superstar to support our warehouse team while Maiko is away.

⏰ 2–3 days per week
🚚 Driver's licence required

The role will initially run through July and August, with the potential for ongoing work for the right person.
