Farmacy Weekly Report 2026 Week #23

Hey foodie! 👋

Winter has come… and while Queensland winters may not involve ice skating or throwing snowballs, there’s still a pretty magical shift that happens this time of year.

The mornings feel quieter, hot drinks taste better, and our kitchens start filling with the kind of meals that warm you from the inside out. After the high energy of the warmer months, winter invites us to gather, slow down and nourish ourselves a little more deeply.

🍊 This is the season for juicy mandarins, sweet citrus, vibrant strawberries, crunchy snow peas and brassicas that thrive in cooler weather. Think cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and kale at their absolute best. Root veggies step into the spotlight too, bringing all the comfort-food energy with them.

Winter eating has a different kind of richness to it. Big pots bubbling on the stove. Roasted veggies caramelising in the oven. Fresh citrus brightening darker days. The kind of food that feels warming, nourishing and satisfying to the core.

And for our farmers, winter often brings a little relief too. Cooler temperatures can mean steadier growing conditions, happier leafy greens and produce developing beautiful flavour naturally in the slower pace of the season.

Eating with the seasons isn’t just about taste (though winter produce can be pretty spectacular). It supports local growers, reduces food miles, cuts waste, and gives your body foods that naturally align with what it may be craving this time of year.

So… ready to embrace the nourishing, comforting magic of winter?
